Artisan’s Peter Worley has been invited by the Epping Breast Unit to attend a very special fundraising event at The Savoy,London on March 3rd 2018. This event is to raise awareness and much needed funds for the charity while honouring Mr Ashraf Patel’s 25 years of dedicated service to the NHS.
The Epping Breast Unit is based at Princess AlexandraHospital, Harlow and St Margaret’s Hospital in Epping where the charity conducts clinical trials and research. Monies raised fund specialist equipment and nursing staff as well as support programmes for local patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
Artist Michael Olsen will accompany Peter to The Savoy as his exquisite butterfly installation ‘Gloria Magna’ is the worthy centrepiece in the auction that will be held during the evening.
Gloria Magna by Michael Olsen
The commission which is now the centrepiece for this year's Butterfly Ball was inspired by Peter Worley and Michael Olsen as a joint Venture In 2017 they decided to create an exhibition piece in Artisan Gallery with which to showcase Michaels work. The size of the piece is 2m x 1.5m and is by far the largest piece of butterfly art undertaken thus far. It attracted huge interest whilst on display. Creation of the work took two weeks and contains around 1200 handpainted feather butterflies. Weighing in at about 100kg the installation needs strong hands to transport and a well-built wall to hang on.
